BELLYDANCE WITH ME -VOL 1   Miss Taj

BellyrhythM ®

The oldest recorded dance form, bringing supportive people together to explore aspects of artistic culture.  These powerful organic movements have healed the body, mind and spirit for centuries.  As traditions inevitably evolve, so has the spirit of our dance. Once associated with fertility rites and religion, the ancient healing art of bellydance has again come of age.

Fitness

The BellrhythM ® signature technique is a full spectrum movement therapy.  The foundation of the movement is rooted in the fundamentals taught in all styles of bellydance.  A proven get-fit alternative work out that is the perfect adjunct to a cardio program.  Improving posture, coordination, reducing stress, sculpting, aerobic and flexibility training all in one.  Also aiding in the recovery process when rehabilitating from certain injuries or reconstructive surgery. All ages and abilities (yes, men too!) are encouraged to practice the latest dynamic trend in fitness that has you dancing effortlessly in minutes.

Tribal

A cultural fusion of costuming, movement and rhythm that traces the roots of the Gypsies as they traveled through India, Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Spain.  Introducing a traditional dance with a unique contemporary flair.  Tribal represents creating synergy within a group dynamic.  The movements are powerful, dramatic and designed to complement stylistic elements borrowed from the folkloric dances of the Middle East, Kathak, Flamenco and American Modern dance.  A modern mix of global dance ingredients including lively zill accompaniment and  colorfully rich costuming with an ethnic feel.  All of which complete this unique dance expression.

Oriental

A fluid dance, alive with poise and dignity.   Classical court cabaret is a widely recognized technique that expresses the grace and strength of femininity.  This historically elegant and controlled style is enhanced with the integration of folk dance, fluttering veils and intoxicating castanets.   Costuming is designed to flatter the curvaceous nature of the female physique and accentuates the masterful isolation of movement.  The spontaneous spirit and skills of the dancer transports one to ancient times.

Prenatal

The evolution of life comes full circle to our original child birth preparation.  Women have danced as a community throughout the years to give support during this special time.  The precious gift of life is further enhanced when the mother is able to move with the hypnotic rhythm that helps to ease the stresses of the birthing process.  Post Partum rehabilitation is enhanced with practice and helps speed the body's return to pre-pregnancy status.

The Dancer

Taj's seasoned career as a health care practitioner and lecturer has allowed her to study various forms of holistic art and science throughout the globe. She brings her concepts of healing through movement into classes and seminars of children and adults.   Dancing since the age of two, Taj has a classically trained dance background, but found her passion in bellydance as an adult.  "I was curious about the mystery of the dance," she said.  I signed up for a class on a whim and immediately fell in love."  Dedicated to the educational development of dance, she has created her own unique approach to the process of learning that evolved out of her risk taking background as a pilot, rescue diver, parachutist and lifestyle coach.  Having taught some 3,000 people, Taj is an authority on traditional and modern bellydance.  She successfully launched the world premiere of a new style of dance at the convention for the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) in Las Vegas in January 2002.  "The essence of the dance is discovered through leading physically through the spine and emotionally through the heart," she states.  Submerged in her love for entertainment, she enjoys providing therapeutic services exclusively to the Oprah Winfrey staff at Harpo Studios.  Committed to service in womens health care, she is an active advocate for the Y-Me Breast Cancer Organization and the Post Partum Depression Network.  Co-authoring with physicians, she has written  a series of research articles about the effects of movement therapy for post-partum depression rehabilitation, which will be published in various medical journals in 2002.
